That last picture is one of my favourite pictures of you, ever. You look so content and peaceful, enjoying the morning misty sun.

Thank you for your pro-choice support! I work for Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri. Gov. Sebelius has been a wonderful supporter of a woman's right to choose. Just last week she vetoed an extreme anti-choice bill. Tomorrow, I will be joining buses of awesomely pro-choice people to go to Jefferson City, Missouri for Pro-Choice Lobby Days 2009. We're asking politicians to support comprehensive sex education, a woman's right to choose, accessible and affordable contraception/sexual health care. I'm listening to "Mandy Goes to Med School" to get pumped! Thank you for being you, Amanda!

    (P.S. - Just emailed for a shirt!)

your parents house is absolutely beautiful, would love to see more photos/have you tell us a bit about it.
  • deutschergluecksklee · 8 months ago
    Thanks for the update!
Glad you're getting time to spend with your Dear House. I can tell how excruciating it is for you-- I hope this time will make it a little easier to leave behind...

    Lol! Wellesley sounds awesome!

Keep up the good work with those young'ns! I'm betting that show will bring many to tears and open lots of hearts and minds.
    Rock it!!
  • Fede · 8 months ago
Finally I found a place were to get in touch with you! (or at least as far as I can get). I'm Fede, from Argentina (yeah! I'm another argentinian guy who's desperate to see you nearby!).
I found this story really funny: I've got a friend that went to Coachella to see The Cure too, and she knew about all the love I feel for you and your music... And she realized you were nearby...and sorry if this sound weird... but she took a picture of you watching The Cure :P Definitely a life-changing band.
I hope to see you around sometime.
    From Argentina.
    Fede.

i have an "ask amanda" that i've kind of been holding back. but i really want your take on this. is it ever hard for the people you know to hear the songs you write? for instance, "half jack" (assuming is about your father). was it hard for you father to hear this song?
  • Karlen · 8 months ago
You, Ma'am, must do Cobra Pose most excellently. Just saying. :D
  • GadgetGav · 8 months ago
The crowd surfing photo is amazing. I saw it the other day from you (or maybe Neil's) twitter post.
The porch of your parents house looks great too. We've got a 100+ year old place up the road in Bedford, but we don't have any fancy woodwork like that... You Lexington people and your fancy houses..! :)

Booked 4 tix for the LHS show on Friday. Looking forward to it a lot!
  • GPX · 8 months ago
As always, I will continue to be obsessed with the work and art of you and yours. Sadly, however, I am not obsessed with you. I have my own life and woman to attend with. ;) Can't wait for a new CD in the mists of 2012 it feels like.... Talked with Brian lately? Collaborate with him, make another. You two could use the achievement, including the income.
  • Concerned Fan · 8 months ago
Not meaning to bash the topic on hand but Sebelius isn't 100% awesome. I'm not going to express my opinion on this any further. But being someone who lives in Kansas, I'd recommend people doing some research of the choices she has made as a Governor and her history as a politician before jumping.
  • Heather B. · 8 months ago
do you have video of you covering "winter"? i have often wished you would cover that song.
  • Ritch · 8 months ago
I second this request. I thoroughly enjoy your covers.

Could you please come do a pro-choice benefit show in Texas? We need you!
  • Laura · 8 months ago
Psst - I took my top off with you, and it WAS damn wholesome fun. I keep bragging to people that my breasts were next to Amanda Palmer's. ;) I don't have the pictures yet, but Aly (the tall one who first asked for toplessness) is supposed to send them to me, and I told her to send them to you, too.

Thanks for an amazing show. Love you always.

damn it I am absolutely twitter retarded and I tried my DARNDEST to send you the rudie nudie photographs! The tittilating tittie-licious breasty busty bunch of photos! However as twitter makes absolutely no sense to me it didn't work. I did the thing where you go @amandapalmer or what everrrrr and sent 'em away into internet land. One way or another they're on my profile: alyssajanine
    If ya want 'em.
Thanks for the google/sinatra piece that really rang with me, creepily enough. But we all do it, come on.

  • giulio · 8 months ago
Hi Amanda. My Name is Giulio and I write from Italy. I love your songs and really didn't thought you were that famous in US since here you're considered a sort of underground musician and finding your CDs, both only yours and dresden dolls played, is not very easy.

Do you have an email to write to? Sure you have it, but it's private.

    Ok, it doesn't matter.

Hope you gonna pass from here (Tuscany) sooner or later..

I visited the house that I grew up in the other day. My parents moved out 6 years ago.
I lived and loved there for my entire childhood, and like you, my house was my best friend - a 200 year old cottage in the middle of the woods with more character than most people.
I found it in ruin, roof caved in, windows broken and completely unloved.
It was possibly the saddest thing that i've ever seen and I had to have a little cry.
So my thoughts are completely with you. But surely it's better to see your old house happy and loved, even if it is by "an evil yuppie couple" as opposed to the dead, derelict alternative.

    Be happy x

Hey Amanda, when are you coming to Providence? You can play at Lupo's--then go out for amazing sushi or falafel and hang out on Thayer street.

The porch picture is amazing! What a great photo shoot that would have been. You are beautiful!

just got done listening to your song (I'm reading your blog when I should be working on a lighting design project) and now I'm crying all over my keyboard and getting strange looks from the other people in the design lab but I don't really care...just be glad that you still have a chance to enjoy it and say goodbye hopefully you house's new life will be just as nice and full of love as the one it had while you were living there
    hugs (lots of them)
    -Meredith

..this song is brilliant. I don't know how I hadn't heard it yet, i've missed out, but yeh, really!! ..phff. I mean I often find myself filled to the brim with empathy when watching you perform but that clip is so moving.
I know it is so incredibly shit when this situation arises . I hope you've found or do find a way to deal with it :(
    big, big hugs for you..

    Sebelius confirmed today. Fucking awesome.
  • Jenny, Bloggess · 8 months ago
So I realize that you are a singer and I am a novelist and those aren't really the same thing but still I think we should be best friends although I'm afraid to travel so you have to come to Texas to see me. I will mix drinks and make my daughter go to bed early. Or we can dye her hair and give her piercings, which she would totally be into because for a four-year-old she completely kicks ass.

Kathleen Sebelius was approved today and will do a fine job.

Oh man! I LIVE in wellesley...right across the street from the goddamn college too. Too bad I'm in the middle of Finals. I've seen other people play there. I wish I could've gone!!
  • lost · 8 months ago
I have a friend who was going to the play but bailed because of the swine flu bullshit that's going on. Are you going to record the show and make it available to the public or the t-shirts?
if so i will gladly buy both.
  • Fudgestix · 8 months ago
I wish I could see your play live, but sadly I can barely afford the bus to uni, let alone a plane ticket to Boston. Hope it goes well when it opens :)

Oh yes, and Happy Birthday :D

Wow. Um. Where to start is obvious: house song made me laugh and cry. Twitter makes me write abbreviated-style. Coachella picture is amazing. Not unlike you. Anyway. The last time I visited the dear old house I grew up in, not long before my parents sold it and moved out, I left a graffito in a not so secret hiding place in my old bedroom. It said "TRACY LIVED HERE AND LIKED IT A LOT." That was around seven years ago, I guess, and I hadn't thought of it in a while to wonder when anybody found that note. Anyway. Thank you for helping me think that memory, and for the laughing and crying both.

    Love,
    -Tracy

Happy Birthday! The view from your house looks lovely. I live in Lexington too, but my house is not as beautiful. But I do have great views of the woods. During breakfast, I often see a wild animal staring at me from my kitchen window (deer, turkey, rabbit, wild cat, hawk, small birds, etc). I laughed when I saw a hawk eyeing my neighbor's yappy teacup dog - yum lunch.

My bedroom does not have a window, but a sliding door to the woods. When I open the door on an early spring morning, I would get hit with that crisp fresh scent of the woods. Sometimes my pet birds singing would wake me up at dawn, I would listen to them sing and sit by the open door until. Your photo reminded of these mornings.

These mornings makes up for whenever I look at my rediculous neighbors' homes. The house on my left is an oversized frankenstein mcmansion and on my right is being renovated into a multilevel gray box.

I truly hope all the persons For Planned Parenthood. Have done their Homework. I myself have done some, what I am able to . I made it a point to purchase some early booklets and the first PP BOOK.
Originally Founded 1916 by Margaret Sanger, It was strategically Placed in the poor, less privileged parts of cities......WHY ? well She stated" non contributers, mentally Ill,Blacks and, other Non whites,ARE the WEEDS of society, and WE NEED TO WEED the Garden"

Margaret Sanger is founder of Planned Parenthood, and the one who inspired Adolf Hitler in his views of eugenics and "murdering socially undesirable people.Or trying to get the Preachers to say the women should get sterilized EUGENICS...Not every one has all the information and as a Role Model Maybe everything need to be laid out!
I love your Music, and Words, and style.....This is simply horrible for me. There is enough shit in the nasty world...without encouraging Murder. I myself REGRET MY 5 ABORTIONS...and hope I if anything can let it be known. PP is not all its crapped out to be!

Abortion is not a form of Birth control, NO one could make you(figuratively speaking) keep legs closed,no one can make "a woman~oe a lady" open them to have a baby sucked out! THAT HURTS THE BABY! DAMIT......if you cannot take care of protection.. .don't expose your eggs to fertilizer!

I don't condemn anyone......Just PLEASE think and inform your self!

    You cannot go back!
AND IT SUCKS TO HAE REGRETS THAT YOU KNOW YOU MURDERED YOU BABY! Just my opinion, I learn everything the hard way,and is also to get my point out without seeming angry or defensive.....JUST KEEP IT REAL and do good things. and Follow your own self and not a Notion or a Whim.
Consequences are forever, after 5 abortions..I am amazed that I was gifted 2 children that are now giving children of their own a chance to GROW! I love my grand baby! And thank GOD I am Forgiven for my Ignorance. But now that there is a sonogram we all know that a baby is a baby, and not a scrapping of tissue! It feels and has EYELASHES very soon in the uterus!........ Pass that Gift on" I personally will help with that!" If you cannot keep it, regift it!
