well, what to say. i know this will probably go unnoticed among the many other comments that will be here, and i can only hope that you might actually read this. I only just discovered your music within the past week. and i can honestly say that i probably couldn't say exactly where i first heard of you. i had listened to a few songs by the red paintings before, so the only like i can think of is a video i got from somewhere of the dresden dolls performing with trash mcsweeney. but anyway, the thing that has stuck with me the most have been the songs you do just as yourself and a piano. nothing fast or upbeat, but the emotional, melancholy, slower songs are the ones that bring out emotion and i can really feel the song. "I will follow you into the dark" seems to me to be an example of what i am trying to say, and is probably my favorite. its just not often that you can feel music anymore. for the love of music, cody lindler.

Yes, it does. In 35 years what will you look back and be glad you did? Or look back and say "Damn, I really should of...instead"

I think it always matters, and I think that you have an amazing artistic intuition. When I was taking one of my first analytical lit classes, my professor, Steven Brown, an amazing man, quoted a Paul Simon song "It ain't what you do, it's how you do it. It's not what you eat, it's how you chew it". You do it well, and you chew it well. Go with your gut and give it your all. And know that you have the power to be anything you want. I learned that about myself from watching you <3

Ah, it is my birthday also and this is so fitting. I just returned from my first trip to Burning Man. All the possibilities indeed, my heart and mind are brimming from the experience. With all these choices we are blessed and I know I feel so unbelievably lucky. It was lovely to listen to your voice on the drive from Seattle to Black Rock City.

And that photograph is fricken fantastic!

I think you're just tired from all your frenetic doings, Amanda; not soulless. You need to take some time off, I think.

    maybe something out of character?

    something you've never done before.

sometimes surprising yourself is just what you need to open another door I suppose.

you and your blogs are never soulless - or why would we all care to read them otherwise? your soul clearly is in everything you do and we can feel that! whatever decision you make, just make sure you have a blast while you do it so you don't grow tired of it and everything will be fine :-)

Well, ultimately, nothing really matters (in a universal context). Cool part about that though is that we can do anything, and the only ultimate goal is to have fun, be awesome and generally kick ass.

It probably doesn't matter which route you take, so long as later you'll be able to look back and say "I stood tall. I Kicked ass; And I couldn't possibly have done so any more than I did". Dum vivimus vivamus.

Eighty-three years might seem like a lot of time, but when that's all the time you get, it's too precious to frit away.

My advice : Flip a coin, then choose what you wanted to do anyway. And whatever you do do, never fail to seize the day. By the throat if possible.
