amandapalmer.net: secret sunday LONDON SHOW! / behind-the-film-scene

  • brogen · 2 months ago
Amanda. Please. Come to Ireland. You are only an hour away. You can stay in my house (I have a piano) and I am sure the boys at Chapters would be delighted to see you. As for a gig? We can do a walking, parade-style gig through Dublin city centre, or we can go to open mic night in Pravda. Come on, it'll be awesome! I make a mean pasta thingy too...

Good luck in London, Give my love to The World's End (Great pub!)

What a fantastic pub to have a show in!!! I doubt I will be making that one (sad times) but I can't wait for the show on the 11th! Hope you're enjoying this dreary English weather. x

I thought the pic of you and the little boy was taken by a different lady :oP

I met you yesterday and in all honesty was a little star struck and was barely managing my words as it was the first time I've met you in person and first time I've seen you since a Dresden Dolls tour a few, if not more years ago!

I wish wish wish I could attend the late night show! I mentioned yesterday I'm pretty far out the way living in a small little village on the outskirts of Oxford :'o(

    Please come play here!

You look really awesome as the geisha statue!!

Are you planning more shows later in september around London?
  • Naomi · 2 months ago
You look fucking wonderful in that outfit AFP. Makes me want to draw it.
Im majorly sad i cant get down to london for any of the shows. For i am a penniless student in the north. I hope you come back and perform in the UK soon <3

10:30 curfew at Union Chapel? God that's slightly ridiculous.
  • desired_waste · 2 months ago
So what exactly are you guys filming for? I wish I was there to be an extra/go to the late night show but I'm in the states. Good luck with filming whatever it is you're filming. :)
  • Lori · 2 months ago
I find it totally fascinating how the change in your eyebrows disguises you. You have such a distinctively beautiful and strong face that I was astounded that makeup could make you disappear into that other character. Oh and the outfit really kills!
  • Kat · 2 months ago
I'm sad that I can't make your Underworld gig due to college early the next morning, but I will be at the Union Chapel Friday. 10:30? Really?! That's horrific! Will there be signings after the show? *hopeshopes*
The film thing looks interesting, will there be a dvd or will it be incorporated in a tour? Because that means you have to come back and be awesome here again soon!
  • shleebeans · 2 months ago
yes, general consensus is that watford is a shit hole. not as bad as slough, but still pretty shocking. can't wait for the 11th - i am going to try and actually talk to you this time instead of breathlessly asking for a picture and then legging it. :) xxx
  • brennabrenna · 2 months ago
ahaha, you look really gorgeous as a statue!
i can't go to the secret show, but i think it's really cool that you do those!
maybe one of these days, you'll lose your mind and come to oklahoma.
lol, i'm not counting on it though. it honestly sucks here.
keep up your life! lolol. this was so ramble-y. sorry.

    word to your mother

YES. I knew it, I fucking knew that there were so many reasons why I nixed the idea of moving back to the godforfuckingsaken town that is Brisbane and here is yet another one. London has delivered afp in outstanding form, three cheers, pip pip and all that, hooray!
  • noirmuse · 2 months ago
Eh, the coat question girl (in case you even remember) posting a reply to your reply out of place ... that seamstress that made your coat is awesome. Just think it's weird mine looks so similar, especially the buttons ;P
Reading about your shows ... I bet you get bothered by people like me often, but what about you playing a show in Germany (Hamburg)? Didn't you once mention something? I'd make food for you too :P

The London Union Chapel is delightful and well worth the 10:30 curfew – that said I’m overjoyed I’ve tickets for the World’s End show (and the next day off work), it is a lovely place and I’ve not been there in too long.

Ooh to be twenty years younger - I'd have definitely come. Too bad that work and extremely late nights do not mix anymore. (I tried a all night LOTR a couple of weeks ago an nearly died!)

But I hope the show is wonderful for you all.

You and Neil and Bill and everyone are amazing! And I covet your pinstriped suit. Sorry, just thought I should say those things. Thanks for writing about everything, because it's vicariously fun and awesome and I wish I was in Watford but then again I don't because of your comments about the place. Still, keep posting and playing the good songs. Thanks.

I really enjoyed watching the filming on Sunday - It was very interesting. Can't wait for the secret gig. It would be amazing if you played Backstabber or the Kill which I'm loving at the moment - middle of divorce.

    Thanks for the magic.

Amanda, please give my regards to Sheelagh. She knows me from the "makeup world" and is another recipient (as is Neil) of the infamous "Yule CD".

I'm here backing up Brogen, imploring you please oh please Amanda, come to Ireland. :(
Us poor studenty folk can't afford to get to London to see you, and Dublin's not so far. I've never made it to one of your shows yet, and it's awful upsetting to have you so close but yet so far.

Apart from that, keep rocking fabulous,
    Virtual love

Hey, people, There is still tickets available for the sunday gig at the Underworld on ticketweb.co.uk and on seetickets.com, you can also buy tickets at the World's End!!!!
  • Ruth_Mariel · 2 months ago
I'm going to the gig on the 11th... It's the first time I will have got to see you since I became obsessed about 6 years ago. 3 times getting there has fallen through! (trains in glasgow and other such incidents) I do hope there will still be signings on Friday even with the ridiculous curfew! Although I shall be terribly shy and not have a clue what to say. And I may just die if Neil is there. (I've read the Sandman since waay back) I'm sure you will understand. :)

I like seeing you and Neil together. You always did materialize to me the call to live in Neverwhere. From the small end of the media telescope, it makes alot of sense. Awe shucks, I am going to say it, "You inspire me!"
  • Paper_Lilybean · 2 months ago
I like the way how, in the second picture, you're dressed just like the goat from that rent-a-goat site...

I would live to hear Neil Young done by the Matrix. But then, my favourite NY albums are "Are You Passionate?" and "Landing On Water", so I like him better when he stretches his comfort zone a little bit. Or maybe I just don't like his regular stuff. And if he and Bob Dylan want to get it on, then what's wrong with that?

...Liz Phair and The Matrix, I'm still not sure about.
