XOXOXOX
In any case, even if you weren't too sure of Russia so far, it seems lovely from your descriptions. The kids are adorable and holy cow! O.O That metal working is so intricate and... I can't find the right adjective, but I love it!
The concert photos are wicked, you all always have so much fun!
Ooooh, sleeping on a train, that *does* sound comfortable... may have to try that someday.
By the way, my sister is doing a tribute to you as I type this, playing for me on the ukulele. She's attempting to recreate the Egyptian folksong Ah Ya Zein for me to dance to. Good stuff :) We thought of you and hope that all is well.
Warmest wishes from Greta and Savvie (my lil sis the ukulele-attempter... yes I did just make that word up) and our hopes that the rest of your tour goes better than planned, that you keep practicing your ukulele, that you figure out the last of those lyrics that are giving you so much trouble, and that you keep making your fabulous music. Much love from Wisconsin, m'dear.

PS: Come to New Jersey (Stone Pony/Starland Ballroom?) , please. People in the armpit of the country love you too. :-)
Also, I second (third?) the vote for a show here in Madison. I was horribly upset that I had to work and missed all but the last song of Jason's show while he was here, so maybe you can bring him along too? I promise I won't blush and stammer like a school girl this time, either. :op
LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
kisses from St. petersburg!
We have kittens.
while reading this blog entry a question popped up:
Why was Germany always treating you so badly or better why do you seem to mostly not having felt very well here? I grew up in Baravia and have been living in Berlin for six years now - and certainly I know what your comment about smiling or NOT smiling there means...and it also took me a while to really get settled in Berlin.
BUT: I just was out on my bike on a lazy saturday afternoon, riding from the eastern part of Berlin to Kreuzberg and only thought (apart from happily thinking of nothing): Such a good city. Such a relaxed and at the same time extremely exciting city. Such a place to be. I would love to show you around a little in Berlin the alternative way and try to open up some spaces for you for "landing" here. I think and hope it might not take much more than a not at all spectacular spaziergang through kreuzberg and then ending up at one of the tiny bars and restaurants in Neukölln in the evening.
Anyways. I'm still crossing my fingers for the september show in Hamburg becoming reality. Let me know, if you will have some spare time then as well to give Berlin another chance, if you want!
Love, Katja
(who is soooo surprised by herself, since she's writing to someone she's only seen a few times in concert halls as if she knew this person. Amanda, you have so absolutely amazing skills connecting with us that even I started to write "fan mail" which I never did before in my so far almost 30 years of life. Thank you for your music and for sharing so much of your life with us.)
Just had a quick look through the comments and I agree with Andrea. Come to Frederiction.

Hope see you all guys soon again.

It's spooky really, she's starting to think like Neil.
I hope your time in Russia improves greatly. Take care on the road. <3
They were micro-brewing before it was cool.
I don't wanna sound demanding or anything;
after all you are NOT my bitch ;),
but you should really come to oklahoma.
I know it's oklahoma,
but you could really make it better with your presence.
:D
pleaseee?
I'm desperate...
So dissapointed about the fact that the comeback rumours are false =[
Have a nice time in Russia!
... Right? (Please, please, please, say right!)
In other news, I wish I was in Russia with you. Life in the same place every day is making me progressively sadder and sadder.
Hope you're enjoying where you are though. :)
I traveled overnight by train from France to Italy this spring, but we booked second-class and definitely didn't have real mattresses and sheets. :P
I definitely dig the cathedral-tractor.

thank u you for great weekend
Mr Neil can testify that we don't bite (too hard)... :P
It is a familiar feeling to me since when I went to Moscow to see your concert last weekend
i then had only a couple of hours for seeing the city from the "inside". At night when i was sitting in the train back to Kiev i had this devastating feeling understanding that i've missed something big and important..
I'd have suggested (in Moscow) the former VDNKh, a sort of Communist World's Fair with the Cosmonaut Museum and the Ostankhino TV tower nearby, or else making the Master & Margarita pilgrimage to Patriarchs Ponds and Mikhail Bulgakov's house.
In St. Pete I got to see the Ethnological and Antropological Museum Named for Tsar Peter (or something like that), as well as accidentally getting into the Hermitage for free.
Yessss, the old Leningrade Express! We went the opposite direction, Moscow-St, Petersburg. The woman in charge of our train car gave us the stinkeye. She was kind of pretty and had her hair in a long, thick braid. I was in luv!
Any chance of a side trip to Amsterdam before or after Hamburg, preferably after 19 September?
I worked for/in the Hermitage, if you spent only 1 minute infront of every piece of artwork, you'd spend 9 years in the Winter palace, add on all the other palaces and gallery's that are part of The State Hermitage Collection and you're looking at roughly 12 years to see everyhting for just one minute. If you ever get back to St. Pete, ask them to let you see the storage vaults under the Winter Palace. The cats are adorable and fierce and the volume of artwork in storage is staggering.
Glad you're coming to the east coast soon...I can't wait to see you in concert for the first time.
