Where can one get such a centerpiece? I, for one, enjoy the fish ilk of paraphernalia.
  • Tina · 1 year ago
The decriptions of the electric blanket song made me think it'd be more like Pretty Balanced's ode to the electric fan.
    http://www.last.fm/music/Pretty+Balanced/_/Ode+...

Yours had much more emotion invested in it. Bravo.

Look forward to having you back in the states!

    Hey there,
just wanted to say that I plan on seeing you in Boston on the 24th and I think it's safe to say we're at least as excited as you are! Really, ecstatic. The next 20+ days could not go fast enough for us in the states :) I only wish I could have seen you in Europe, it sounded fucking phenominal.
    Thank you so much.
  • OneStar · 1 year ago
Gosh I dont know how I am going to make it to your show when you come to the states, but I will. Always avoiding texas missy, tisk tisk. But I'll drive where ever I have to just to see you! With love!
  • willk · 1 year ago
I hope you can make things work one day without labels at all. I recall you saying in a post that you get very little on the dollar for cds. It seems like having non-artists or suits between you and the audience is a liability because they could make decisions only for their benefit. I think you and your audience are a different set from what anyone else is doing and it will work.
I have traveled from raleigh to boston a couple of times for AP/DD shows. Once or an MFA solo show and another for the onion cellar. I noticed I was not the only person their that had come a long way. Travel like that is dang expensive for someone of my income and I wonder if , when you are free of labels there's a will to solicit donations to enable tours. Something like a pbs pledge drive to get a show central various sponsors.

I am so glad that we, the fans, mean so much to you, because you have changed some of our lives.

Just a few days ago, I looked in the mirror and thought 'wow, I might actually be able to be a pretty amazing person', and I realized that it was because of you.

(also, the baby's adorable, Katie Kay's hot, and you're pretty freakin' awesome.)

    P.S. Texas, please!
  • therealtaryn · 1 year ago
texas definitely needs to happen, ma'am.all of us in houston would love to have you, but if you came anywhere in texas, we'd plan a road trip.

but if texas can't happen, it will be an even more epic road trip. :D

also, i am totally digging the newsboy hat.

    much love,

You made the statement that describes the whole AFP/Dolls concept:

    "the ART works"

    Perfect!

    PS. How's the foot now?

Dang, I wish I had stayed too to express to you how I felt after the show in Utrecht (aka the Tivoli Take-over). And would you believe I was in Amsterdam the next night, right across from where you were playing, and I couldn't come and how much I hated that? And how seriously I debated going to the Tilburg show, because I couldn't bear the thought of not sharing more of your amazing talents live (and not just yours, I mean the entire entourage, Jason, the Dangers, Lyndon, everybody). Eventually I decided no, I have no money, and it's best to savour the memory of the Utrecht show - which I did, over and over and over and over, seriously, when was the last time I relived a show that many times again in my head? I can't remember. Anyway. It warms my heart to read your words on this tour and I am so glad to have witnessed it with you. Much much courage wished to you by me and take care with that foot!
  • Amy · 1 year ago
i hope your coming to wellington new zealand. AND! if you do make it all ages!!! and if not i'll do anything to get in!! but please i know you have come before with the dresden dolls...so please come back!!!!!
  • Mélanie Fazi · 1 year ago
The whole thing was a pretty intense experience for the audience too. Everyone else I've spoken to about the shows had felt the same as I did: we were happy and proud and grateful to be part of the crowd and experience this. We were not only watching a fantastic show, we were receiving and giving at the same time. The alchemy was amazing. I saw you in Paris but heard the same about other shows as well. You can tell there's this spark in people's eyes when they talk about it.

Just thought I'd take the opportunity to say thanks for everything - listening to this album, watching the videos, getting to interview you twice and ultimately experiencing this overwhelming show were some of the most special things that happened to me this year. That's something I won't forget.

Also, great idea about the Danger Ensemble account - I felt bad that I hadn't been able to donate anything during the show.
  • cryptorchid · 1 year ago
    Hi Amanda,

Your fans bring you the reconnaissance you need to be what you are... But you provide them with deep feelings and emotion each time they see you on stage !
You really deserve the success you meet, and you even deserve more than that.
I also hope that The Danger Ensemble will manage to have a bigger notoriety thanks to the tour, they really are amazing and their contribution to the shows is wonderful.
You're a great artist, Amanda, and, yes : rock fucking on !
  • Meike · 1 year ago
the Electric Blanket song in Utrecht was fucking awesome.
    I love you to bits.

  • rococomaiden · 1 year ago
That electric blanket song is adorable <3

Also you said that you passed "the hat every night", but actually you passed a boot arround in Bristol ~

Oh, I just added some photos of the show to flickr too:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/24885081@N03/sets/...

I had loads more, but I kinda broke the CD that lets me upload pics from my phone... so I had to email them to myself which costs money :'(

I hope you'll tour Europe again in the future! x
  • Kabouterprinses · 1 year ago
    dear miss Amanda Fucking Palmer,

    i love you

you were a-fucking-mazing when i came to see you in Ghent, and i'd like to thank you for that, i just can't seem to stop talking about it to all of my friends. And yes, they're getting sick of me.

    On A More Important Note:
i'd like to recommend a book, it's actually my favourite book, i don't really know if you'll like it, but i do. SO i think you should give it a try.
Miss Nobody by Tomek Tryzna, a polish writer
    ( http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/biblio?isbn=9780... )
I'd donate you a copy, but i only have it in dutch, and i'm assuming you don't speak dutch.
Try it sometime, if you can find a copy.

    Love,
    Anne

Awesome news about the record sales going so well on your end. :)
(Or at least, it sounds awesome.)

I never shut down my Mac laptops either, so I wouldn't worry. :P
As long as you save whatever you're working on before you put it to sleep you're fine.
Apple practically tells you to do it that way.

    Dear Amanda,

It's good to read about the European tour! I was there twice, being the Food Friend and the Auction Assistant (yay for alliteration) in Tilburg AND the girl from the baby onesie thing in Utrecht. AND I'm also jetsque from flickr, loving the picture you chose (I was going to e-mail them to you but due to exams I didn't have the time yet). UNFORTUNATELY we couldn't stay after the Tilburg show, I would have loved to hug you again because there wasn't much time after the soundcheck. I really hope you enjoyed the food! Did you have your surgery last Friday or is it postponed? I'm sure we'll read about it later.

A MAJOR thanks to all of you for the great shows. Keep up the artwork because it's fantastic! and come to Nijmegen next time, Doornroosje still counts as a living room :-)

    Love,
    Jetske

Oh and I totally agree on what you said about the giant squid now that I've seen it. Or is it the less giant one on the picture? In that case I'm scared ;-)
  • mixiemoxie · 1 year ago
I am driving 500 miles to see you in Atlanta on the 16th. And I'm so excited to be part of your army of support that I can't stop beaming. It's going to be AMAZING. I know it!
  • Annelien · 1 year ago
thank YOU Amanda, for making the CD and the show and everything else!
  • mixiemoxie · 1 year ago
Oh! One more thing! I would do anything for a pony.
  • Liz · 1 year ago
    1) I will reinforce the plea for you to come to Texas. If you decide to stop by Austin, drop me a line and I'll make sure you and yours are taken care of, yeah?

    2) Don't think that this post lets you off the hook for a London performance blog. I nearly passed out when I realized you'd be playing here while I was studying abroad, and want to see your take on that event which is most glorious in my memory.

    Dear Amanda,

I saw you in Munich on 21st October and because I had to leave right after the show to catch my last train home I didn't get the chance to tell you how awesome you are, how the concert rocked, how happy I was on this evening. So, I'm writing this to you now...sorry, if my english sucks ;)
First of all, the show was gorgeous. Seriously, the best concert I've ever been to. You all are so talented, your music, your voice, your lyrics are so intense and moving. I was close to crying a few times because everything was so beautiful and touched me so much.
I saw you for the first time at Highfield Festival this year and that was really cool and I loved it. And so I expected another cool rockshow this time. But it was so much more. I can't find words to describe what I felt.
Thank you for doing what you do, for being who you are, for saving me and for changing my life. And thank you for bringing Jason, Zoe and The Danger Ensemble with you! They're brilliant.
    Love, Steffi
  • Elizabeth · 1 year ago
Oh, amazing amazing. I so wish I could have been at any show. But alas, I live in the states and so far, you aren't coming near here.

Hopefully that will change with the next round of tour dates.

I really think it's awesome, the way you connect to and appreciate fans. I know I have been promoting the record in this silly town ever since it came out. Fuck the record company. A fanbase that would follow you to the ends of the earth and back is so much better than a bunch of hype.

    <33333 Welcome home.
  • Michael · 1 year ago
Heidelberg is still so fresh in my mind - this was in an ingenius show !! Thank you for all and everything you do - you sing - you express - for giving me a handkiss - for a night of wonders !!!
The picture with you and Zoe is my favourite :) :D
  • janey m · 1 year ago
    hey amanda,

fuck the record company! you're amazing, and your fans will always be behind you because you've always been so real, and you've always understood the importance of making that connection with your audience. we'll keep supporting you and flagging this album wherever we can. i know what all my friends and family are getting for xmas this year!

All that you said about the love and gratitude you feel for the fans is reciprocated, because a lot of us feel to a certain extent we owe you OUR lives. you say that you would have nothing without each person that buys a ticket to your show. I feel that i would have an awful lot less without your music, your words and your art.

p.s can you save a couple of ponies for australia?? :-)
  • Tana · 1 year ago
Without reinvention there is nothing, as long as your changing for yourself and no one else. Frankly Amanda we will love you through good and bad changes, whenever or however often they might be. Can't wait to see you at the U.S tour!

Do you still check your Amanda fan letters e-mail? I know im not the only one whose sent you some Obama goodness and lots of loving!

I need to thank you too. It can't be that I'm the only one who is inspired by your work, your enthusiasm, and your kindness. I never really believed in myself and I was really scared to perform. When I saw you in Utrecht, and saw how you enjoyed doing such a thing, I realized I had to see it as a something enjoyable, rather than something to fear. You were sometimes being silly, sometimes being serious, a lot of times being funny, but you were just you when you were standing or sitting on the stage.

And it sounds so obvious, but it's not for me. So thank you for inspiring me :).

Oh, and I want to recommend a book. There's a big chance you've already read it, but I love it so I'll recommend it anyway: I never promised you a rose garden, by Joanne Greenberg.
  • Emma · 1 year ago
    Dearest Amanda!

Your Koko, Lodon show was positively MADE of wow!
All my friends bailed on me so I invited my mother along, she's now a proper Rock Chick and can't wait to see you again.

Anyway, we took some photos during the gig and there's a few good ones http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...

    Enjoy lovely, talented lady!

p.s. hope your foot's on the mend
  • June_Miller · 1 year ago
'That was the part that was supposed to sound like Belle and Sebastian.'

    :) Well-played.

One of my coworkers is Jason Webley's younger evil twin. It's pretty funny. I think I'll ask him if he's a fan, some time.

    ...

This isn't your way to try and get us to shell out our moneys on purchasing a concert ticket, is it?

It already worked, if that's the case. Got mine a couple months back, actually. Just as well; I don't mind stickin' it to the label, anyway. Yes, you have fans who definitely enjoy your work and want to give support however they can. Album sales, that's mainly for the suits, and we know it. The performance is where it all really, really is. Art, emotions, hippie-ass-togetherness. That's what gets the shit stirring, for folks like us.

It also helps that you actually treat your fans like the people that they are, and not just a bunch of nameless drones there to give wanton praise. Someone mentions someone from the message board, and you know them by their first name. How...very interesting.

    It means a lot.

    ...

Although I'm definitely in for ponies. Pony pony pony.
  • Tim · 1 year ago
Loving the new album, Amanda. Sh*t news that the label isn't giving the support they can. I've been bigging you up on the Marillion message boards, turns out that there's a few fans there (and now a few new one's ;-)) They're old, they're as uncool as f*ck and they're brilliant, but they have their own careers in their own hands - all you need is a fan base that cares enough - I think yours do.

Anyhows, you may find this of interest if you ever actually get any spare time:
    http://www.marillion.com/band/index.htm

(which doesn't even begin to talk about the pre-release of the latest album to the P2P networks...)

Happiness IS the road. oh, and look right!
